Hull is getting a dockside makeover! C R Reynolds has been chosen to lead exciting improvements to Humber Dock Street and Princes Dock Street. This project is all about creating vibrant, accessible spaces that everyone can enjoy, while celebrating Hull’s amazing maritime heritage.
Funded by National Highways and Hull City Council, this work builds on the success of Hull’s year as UK City of Culture in 2017, which saw fantastic improvements across the city.
The historic Humber Dock Street and Princes Dock Street, once bustling dockside locations, are key links between the Old Town and the Fruit Market. Now they’ll also form part of a new maritime trail, connecting Hull’s fascinating maritime attractions.
C R Reynolds will be busy developing plans, investigating the site, and sourcing materials before construction begins later this year. Expect to see more accessible and inviting spaces with fresh landscaping, new trees, seating, and improved heritage features. Humber Dock Street will even get a brand new linear park!
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, in charge of transportation, roads, and highways, is thrilled to be working with C R Reynolds on this project. He says, “These upgrades will transform Humber Dock Street, High Street, and Princes Dock Street into welcoming and accessible spaces, highlighting their historical significance and exciting future potential.”
This is all part of the Hull Maritime programme, which is breathing new life into Hull’s maritime heritage. Want to see what’s planned? Check out the latest artist impressions at maritimehull.co.uk!
