Hull’s New Youth Enterprise Hub Moves Forward as Contractor is Appointed

Exciting progress is being made on a new Youth Enterprise Hub in Hull city centre, as a contractor has now been selected to bring the project to life. F Parkinson Limited has been awarded the contract by Hull City Council to refurbish 161 High Street, transforming the space into a hub for young entrepreneurs and business start-ups.

The initiative, backed by £1.5 million in government funding, is a key part of Hull’s vision to support and nurture the next generation of business leaders. Initially, redevelopment efforts will focus on the ground and first floors, creating a modern and dynamic environment for young people looking to turn their business ideas into reality.

Supporting Hull’s Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

Designed to assist young people in the pre-start and start-up phase of their business journey, the hub will work in collaboration with the Hull & East Yorkshire Youth Enterprise Partnership. The goal is to create an enterprise culture that helps drive Hull’s economy forward, encouraging innovation, skill-building, and confidence among the city’s aspiring entrepreneurs.

Alex Codd, Hull City Council’s Assistant Director for Economic Development and Regeneration, highlighted the project’s importance, stating:

“This marks a significant step forward in our plans to create a youth enterprise hub and business incubation facility in the heart of the city. By moving ahead with the refurbishment, we can provide a much-needed space where young entrepreneurs can develop their skills, gain inspiration from experts, and contribute to Hull’s growing business community.”

Future Growth and Expansion

While initial efforts will focus on revitalizing the first two floors, plans are already in place to seek additional funding to extend the refurbishment to the second floor in the near future.

By creating a supportive, welcoming space, this hub aims to give young entrepreneurs in Hull the tools and environment they need to launch and grow successful businesses, ensuring a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable local economy for years to come.
